Water hyacinth is a rapidly growing and free floating acquatic plant with a delicate and beautiful large blue flowers. It is so prolific that it spreads rapidly into rivers, lakes and ponds. It tends to block water-ways, choke fish ponds and impede free flow of water potentially creating a pollution problem. The water hyacinth leaf stalks (stems), abut 50 cm to 65 cm ong are sun-dried and ingeniously twisted into thin lines of smooth soft textured rope which are then woven into the desired shape or planted onto durable hared wood frame. They are innovatively designed and ingeniously hand woven by artisans under the supervision of highly skilled master craftsmen.
